Your Greatness

The 2012 Olympics are well underway and we have already seen some great moments transpire.  While watching these games I was impressed by one company’s commercial campaign. Nike has launched a campaign called “Find Your Greatness” and it really speaks to everyone’s inner Olympian.  Having a marketing degree, I’ve studied more than a few marketing campaigns designed to sell a product but this one seems to be more about inspiring the human spirit instead of pushing a product.  This campaign empowers everyone to reach for greatness.  I’ve always thought that greatness is not a grandiose achievement reserved only for a select few; instead everyone has the ability to do something great as long as they are willing to give their all.

In this campaign one commercial stood out to me from the rest entitled “Find Your Greatness – Jogger”(See Below).  The words throughout this commercial are moving but the message at the end is what touched my soul. It’s simply stated:

“Greatness is not some rare DNA strand; it’s not some precious thing. Greatness is no more unique to us than breathing. We’re all capable of it; all of us.”

Nike nailed it! We all have the ability to be great and to do great things. We just have to remember that we can.  So, now is the time.  As you read these words I challenge you to think of one small thing you can do towards “Your Greatness” and just do it. You will probably notice how quickly other ideas of things you can do will come to mind.
